You’ll carry out basic Test & Run checks on returned equipment, referring more complex repairs to our Fitters, and help manage the movement of equipment in and out of the branch.

From time to time, you’ll also provide local delivery and collection cover using a company 3.5T vehicle, so a full UK driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all equipment is stored correctly, securely and safely.
  • Clean, inspect and prepare equipment for hire.
  • Complete basic functional and electrical Test & Run checks on returned tools and specialist equipment to ensure they are safe, compliant and ready for the next hire.

  • Ensure equipment is clean, complete and fit for customer use before hire or despatch.
  • Support the preparation of hire orders and equipment for despatch.
  • Manage the movement of Goods In and Goods Out within the branch.
  • Safely pick, pack, load and unload tools, plant and specialist equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is loaded and secured safely in line with company transit procedures.
  • Process incoming and outgoing Inter Depot Transfers (IDTs) accurately.
  • Complete relevant paperwork, tablet entries and administrative records accurately.
  • Provide local delivery and collection cover when required using the company 3.5T delivery vehicle.
  • Load, transport and unload equipment safely at customer, supplier and branch locations.
  • Provide equipment demonstrations when required.
  • Complete vehicle checks and take appropriate action where any defects or issues are identified.
  • Drive safely and in accordance with UK road laws and company procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a high standard of branch and warehouse presentation.
  • Keep stock, equipment and storage areas organised and safe.
  • Assist with periodic stocktakes and inventory checks.
  • Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Support other areas of the branch when required to help meet operational demands.

What We’re Looking For:

  • An interest in tools, small plant and hire equipment.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to work.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to support different areas of the branch.
  • A genuine team player who is reliable and flexible.
  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Comfortable using relevant IT equipment and systems.
  • A valid full UK driving licence, as local deliveries and collections will be required from time to time.
  • An understanding of the importance of driving safely and respecting other road users.
  • Experience of repairing, maintaining or completing Test & Run checks on small tools or plant equipment would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience within tool hire, plant hire, construction, warehouse or logistics environments would be beneficial.
  • Product knowledge and knowledge of the local road network would also be advantageous.
  • A valid full UK driving licence, as local deliveries and collections will form part of the role when required.
  • Experience of repairing, maintaining or completing Test & Run checks on small tools or plant equipment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
