Job Introduction
As our Transport Planner you will provide full support to your line manager delivering excellent customer service ensuring all transport movements are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies / procedures / processes and customer requirements.
You will strive to ensure all transport movements are undertaken in the most cost effective manner working closely with all members of the Hire Desk, Operations & Sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Arranging the delivery and collections of equipment from customer sites and organise internal transfer between depots, using our own fleet of vehicles and external haulage where necessary. Ensuring all movements are completed efficiently and cost effectively.
- Liaising with drivers/hauliers and using tracking software to ensure each drivers route is on schedule.
- Liaising with all Hire Controllers and Operations teams to ensure accurate and prompt deliveries/collections
- Advising customers of accurate ETA’s and any delay’s that occur
- Ensuring records are accurately maintained
- Processing purchase orders for external haulage
- Monitoring of emails and arranging any special requests such as wide load movements or booking in procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Good geographical knowledge of region/UK and Europe desirable.
- Knowledge of construction/housing/civil engineering industry advantageous
- Understanding of driver hours and working time regulations advantageous
- Knowledge of transport fleet management/scheduling software advantageous
- Effective customer service skills and excellent telephone manner essential
